For lots of people, looking good isn't their priority while they're
exercising. However, for some people, this is important, and can make or
break their decision to work out. While getting fit isn't all about looking
your best, there are still some things you can do to make sure you're
looking stylish while you exercise, so you can feel comfortable and
confident wherever you are and whatever form of exercise you choose to do.
At the gym, most people don't worry about wearing makeup, as it's pretty
much a given that if you're working hard, you'll be sweating too much for
makeup to stay in place. Everyone is in the same boat, so don't feel self
conscious, but if you really can't bear to go without, a slick of waterproof
mascara should be all you need, as you'll be getting a healthy glow from the
exercise already. Pull your hair back into a chic high ponytail to keep it
out of your way, and if you have a fringe, pin it back.
As for sportswear, it's now possible to get some extremely fashionable,
attractive pieces. Sports firms have been working hard to create sportswear
that is more flattering and interesting than clingy black Lycra, so you can
choose from the vast array of yoga pants, casual hoodies and vibrant vest
tops on offer. If you're going for specialist sportswear, many companies now
offer stunning designs for all sorts of sports gear, from women cycle jerseys to swimsuits, so you needn't feel dowdy just
because you're working out.
The important thing to remember is that comfort should take precedence over
fashion. It's certainly not elegant to spend an hour hobbling around a
running track because you've chosen the wrong shoes. Running shoes don't need to be chunky; there are lots of good, lightweight,
flexible varieties on offer which may actually be better for your feet as
they allow them to move more naturally, and they look more feminine on the
feet.
Remember that as you get hot, you might want to remove a layer, so think
about what you have on underneath your sweatshirt or hoodie. A simple,
fitted vest top stops you from looking frumpy and bigger than you are and is
less likely to be a nuisance when you're working out, so get rid of any
baggy t-shirts and opt for a sleeker, slinkier silhouette for a more
glamorous workout look.
